This week Kerry had the pleasure of attending The New Forest & Hampshire County Show as a guest of The Women’s Institute, and what a wonderful day she had. Friends of PICU had been chosen as beneficiary of the Charity Class in the WI Marquee.
Last year Kerry met with the New Forest WI to talk about the work of the Charity and PICU, and it was decided that the Charity Class should be bed quilts, which are gifted to the children in PICU. The rules were agreed, the measurements set, and the ladies got to work thinking about their quilt designs with the theme of “Wonderfully Wild”.
When Kerry walked in to the WI Marquee this week to see them all beautifully displayed, she was left completely speechless and feeling very emotional. The time, effort, workmanship, skill and pure love that had been put into each and every quilt was breathtaking. There were almost 100 quilts on display, and another 4 big bags of quilts made by members in addition to their Class entry, each made with so much thought and care. Kerry spent some time looking at every quilt and talking to some of the ladies that made them to express just how much these will mean to the children and the families. We know they will hold very special memories.
In addition to the Charity Class there were a variety of other Classes that Kerry had the pleasure of enjoying including Lavender Biscuits, Fruit Chutney, Wild Flower Cupcakes, A Campsite Picnic, Knitting/Crochet Wild Creatures, Wild Face Masks, A Wild Walk in the Woods, Wildly Arranged Flowers, Wild Weather Photography, Wild Women Art, A Wild Party Invitation and Wonderfully Wild Safari. It was a Marquee full of the work of extremely talented ladies.
