Friends of PICU is a family orientated, community based charity and we take our values and aims seriously and apply these in all that we do – including how we care for your personal information and are committed to safeguarding your privacy online.

In carrying out our charitable work we collect and use personal information about individuals and organisations.  We recognise the trust given to us by those people whose information we receive and maybe use.

It is important to us that we are open and honest about the way we use information and we are committed to ensuring that we do so in a manner that is both lawful and respects your privacy.

We use the information we collect about you to help us understand more about how our site is used and to be able to send you communications about FoPICU that may be of interest to you, either electronically or otherwise. The “personal information” is information that enables us to identify you, such as your email address, name, title and address.

What personal information does FoPICU collect?

We will collect the minimum personal information we need, to your interaction with this website and other specific communications with Friends of PICU:

1. regarding visitors to our website: information regarding what pages are accessed and when
2. information volunteered by you (such as survey information), email address, contact phone number and your preferred means of communication
3. we might also obtain your personal data through your use of social media channels such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, Messenger, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and others, depending on your settings or the privacy policies of these social media and messaging services. To change your settings on these services, please refer to their privacy notices, which will tell you how to do this

How does FoPICU use my information?

FoPICU uses the information we collect about you to help us with:

1. understanding more about how our site is used and to be able to send you communications that may be of interest to you, either electronically or otherwise.
2. raise further awareness of Friends of PICU Charity and the work we do
3. help raise further funds to support our charity goals
4. learn how best to contact you (and what about)
5. keep a record of your kind support
6. progress applications (employment and volunteering) or any other enquiries
7. learn how to improve
8. best provide our charity support to you and all potential future supporters

Who is collecting your information?

When you are in the FoPICU website and are asked for personal information, you are sharing that information with FoPICU alone unless stated otherwise. For example, when you are using our secure online donation pages, you are going through to a partner company, such as JustGiving and it is clear on the donation page when you are going through to the JustGiving site, and at that point their policies on what information they provide to Friends PICU or hold about you are relevant.

With whom does FOPICU share your information?

FoPICU does not sell lists/data to others.  FoPICU will not disclose any of your personally identifiable information, except when we have your permission or under special circumstances, such as when we believe in good faith that the law requires it.  If you have made a gift aid declaration, we will share your name, address and donation details with HMRC.  When you are using our secure online donation pages you are going through to a partner company and the information you give such as your credit card number and contact information is provided to them so that the transaction can take place.

How long do we keep your data.

We will keep your data only for as long as necessary.  If you have kindly donated to or work or volunteered for us, we are required to keep this data for seven years, or as long as is necessary if you have pledged a Legacy to us.  If you have not donated to us, we will keep your data for three years.

What are my choices regarding collection, use and distribution of my information?

If you indicated that you are interested in receiving regular information about FoPICU’s work we will send you communications regarding FoPICU’s charitable work and activities, either electronically or otherwise.

What is FoPICU’s policy on allowing me to update, correct or delete my personally identifiable information?

The accuracy of your individual identifying information is important to FoPICU. If you change email address or any of the other information we hold is inaccurate or out of date, please contact the charity and advise us of the changes.

You have the right to:

1. ask what information we hold about you – and be given that information
2. ask us to correct, change, or update any information we hold about you
3. in relation to fundraising, legacies or donations, you have the right to opt out of communications
4. withdraw your consent for us to use your information
5. ask us to delete your information entirely
6. make a complaint or ask any other question in relation to your information

How does FoPICU protect my personal identifiable information?

FoPICU is committed to taking reasonable steps to protect the individual identifying information that you provide to us.

What security precautions are in place to protect the loss, misuse or alteration of my information?

Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, FoPICU cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems.
