Building and PICU Expansion
With thanks to your help, FoPICU’s building and expansion project enabled the creation of increased patient-centred treatment and recovery spaces, designed to deliver gold standard care for our regions most critically ill children. The completion of this project has had a huge positive impact on the PICU.
The project included; a state of the art extension with 2 new bed spaces and all of the equipment necessary for treating children, storage space, new full-height windows to increase the light into the whole unit, and space for the new computer system installed by the hospital for patient care and record keeping.
Now with 16 beds, the extension provides additional capacity and space for staff and patients in a ward where the number of critically ill children can fluctuate rapidly and is generally full almost all the time.
Your money supported the design, construction, and fitting out of old areas adjacent to the PICU to give patients the best care and experience possible.
