Patient and Family stories.
Would you like to share your family story of, care by the PICU and/or support you give to the Friends of PICU charity?
Providing child and family support through funding new equipment, providing additional training, key building works and the small items to create a high level (gold standard) and caring environment is our goal. However, we are also aware that patient and family experiences and voices help us to explain to other families the care given by the PICU and support to the charity.
The PICU medical teams experiences in their work have a direct impact on their own wellbeing too.
Patient stories can also assist staff in further understanding the experience of being in the PICU for children and their families, and can help staff through education and reflection to learn more about the feelings of families, whilst on and possibly after PICU, and support given back by families to the Unit through the amazing donations and fundraising.
Children and families are at the heart of the support we give and why we give it. Friends of PICU would dearly like to share your patient and family stories on our new website. We hope through reading these stories they will provide a source of comfort, courage, confidence, compassion, and connection to other families, staff and the amazing care given on the PICU.
We are very grateful to the patients and families who have agreed to share their stories. There are a few on our website now, and we will continue to add stories.
There is also some guidance about writing your story, but please do contact the charity if you would like any assistance.
