Friends of PICU would like to thank Jamie very much for raising £1,850.00. During lockdown Jamie has cycled every day, clocking up 350 miles and raising money for Friends of PICU in the process. Such a fantastic achievement Jamie! Jamie’s parents shared the motivation for undertaking this challenge:
“Jamie spent three months in Southampton hospital when he was a one year old, several weeks of that in PICU and the rest in High Care. He had a late diagnosed hole in the heart which had resulted in pulmonary hypertension. He is now a healthy 11 year old with a full life expectancy. He cannot of course remember any of this but he has seen photos of himself with tubes and wires everywhere while in PICU and he has a chest scar as a reminder. As a result he decided to put lockdown to use and through his bike riding raise some funds for the unit to put something back.”
On behalf of everyone at Friends of PICU, many congratulations on your achievement Jamie and thank you for your very kind support.
