Friends of PICU and our supporters have held a number of successful fundraising events over the last few months:
Weekend Fun in aid of Friends of PICU
Following a stay in PICU in 2010, two youngsters decided that they would like to raise some money for the hospital where Katie Ruffles was treated. Katie's friend Hannah Barnard came up with the idea of a fundraising "Afternoon tea"but the event soon grew into much more - including a raffle, cake auction, beer tasting, several children’s games and activities as well as stalls selling gifts. Over 80 guests enjoyed the afternoon, with funds raised from Entry fees, afternoon teas and auctions. A fantastic £685 was raised on the day, which has increased to £1370 due to the generous fundmatching provided by Barclays Bank PLC. A great achievement - well done girls!
2011 Great South Run We were delighted to have 50 runners for Friends of PICU at this great event. It will take a while for the total fundraising amount to be known, but we can say that we have exceeded £7,000 already. Although the conditions weren't as dry and calm as 2010, everybody had a great time. Some of our Runners are pretty speedy, coming in at 71 and 73 minutes - truely amazing! Our thanks to all the Runners, especially the 11 runners from Matchtech elemense for all their support. Please see our Friends of PICU facebook page for photos. Charity Family fun Football Event- Bass Sports Ground, Alton The event on Sunday 25th September saw Team Grace play the Alton Veterens. The final score was 4-6 to the Veterens! A total of £2,125 was raised – a brilliant success! Thanks must go to all the people who attended, joined in with the family fun and helped to raise this great amount! The 50 raffle prizes were kindly donated by local shops, pubs, supermarkets and friends in high places! Sam Attwater ( EastEnders & Dancing on Ice) was there to play football and draw the raffle. Next years event can only be bigger and better and we are all looking forward to it.
